A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE INVESTIGATION OF THE POSSIBILITY OF DISSOLVING THE DUNDEE RURAL FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT AND CREATING A NEW DISTRICT THAT INCOMPASSES THE CITY OF DUNDEE AND THE RURAL DISTRICT

THE DUNDEE RURAL FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT RESOLUTION NO. 21-22-02
A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE INVESTIGATION OF THE POSSIBILITY OF DISSOLVING THE DUNDEE RURAL FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT AND CREATING A NEW DISTRICT THAT INCOMPASSES THE CITY OF DUNDEE AND THE RURAL DISTRICT
THE DUNDEE RURAL FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT BOARD OF DIRECTORS FINDS AS FOLLOWS:
1. Whereas the Dundee Rural Fire Protection District is contracted to relinquish 85% of collected tax revenue to the City of Dundee for fire protection services.
2. Whereas the current contract for fire protection services will continue until the rural district’s bond debt is paid off in September of 2037.
3. Whereas the City of Dundee is unable to fund the city fire department to the level of service desired.
4. Whereas the option of passing levies for additional funds would not provide a long term solution.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE DUNDEE RURAL FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
The Dundee Rural Fire Protection District will continue to work along with the city of Dundee to investigate the concept of dissolving the Rural District and forming a new district in conjunction with the City of Dundee for the purpose of creating tax revenue sufficient to sustain the fire station at an acceptable level of service.
